These globes are very fragile and since they are made out of glass they can easily hurt anyone. My boyfriend was putting one in the soil and the glass broke on his hand, he got several stitches and now he has to have surgery because the glass broke one of his nerves, definetely not worth buying them and very dangerous. • Aqua Globes stop it emptying too fast

I just wanted to give a little help to some of the people who are having problems with their aqua globes emptying too quickly. I found a solution online while looking for a way to resolve this. I found a company called plantpal. They do something called Aqua Globe Control Automatic Plant Self Watering Bulb Spikes. It's a small orange plastic cone with a small straw like tube in the center, a wick system at the end of the spike, with a small hole just above the wick, with another small piece of straw inserted into that hole. I took the straw out of the main tube, and the small piece of... More...

  • I love my four aquaglobes.

I resisted planting anything in pots until I found aquaglobes. The only problem, how to fill them? The recommended method, fill from a faucet or fill a sink and submerge them, seemed wasteful of water and slow. I checked on the internet and found no workable solution. I was looking for a tiny funnel when I bought a clear plastic ketchup squeeze bottle for about $1. After you fill the squeeze bottle with water, stick the tip into the neck of the aquaglobe, leaving room for air to get around it, and squeeze. If you don't leave room for air, the water justs squirts back out. One... More...

  • Aqua globes

I bought a set of two big globes & three little globes. To me they are not worth the money you spend on them. I first watered the plants good, then filled the globes with water & inserted into the soil, within a few hours they were empty. I filled them again & put into soil at an angle & within a few hours they were empty. To me these globes are worthless. I bought them because the add said they last up to twoo weeks, which is a lie. Looks like I'm going to have somebody water my flowers for two weeks while I' gone on vacation. DON'T BUY THESE GLOBES PEOPLE! More...

  • Great product!

I got my first set of aqua globes with reservations but after seeing my plants flourish I had to get more to support my outdoor plants when I brought them in for winter. First off make sure your soil is not packed. This is bad for the plant much less the fragile globe stem. Second when you insert the globe make sure the dirt closes around the stem and doesn't leave an opening or the globe will just empty. The globe wokrs based on air in the soil if it has access to air it adds water. Yes the globe is round glass and is a fire hazard do not put into direct sunlight. Keep the plant... More...

  • Works fine for me

So far I have had no problem with the Aqua Globe. It has watered my plants as I have expected. The rate at which the globe has needed refills has varied from plant to plant as well as based on the size of planter being watered. The globe's tube opening can become clogs on occasion but has been only a minor inconvenience that has been easily remedied. I find that they are do not become clogged that often so long as they are not simply jammed into the dirt. The sun magnification issue causing a potential fire hazard that others have reported about is quite alarming and one I had not... More...

  • Keeps my Tree Watered

I bought this so I wouldn't have to worry about watering my little elm tree. It's about 1-year-old and is now flouishing. Its leaves have gotten wider and greener, and its branches have gotten longer. I fill it with aquarium water which is rich in nutrients such as nitrate (NO3). I would recommend this product to anyone with an indoor plant! More...

  • Undecided

I have a few comments about the Aqua Globe. First, it is quite top heavy so you have to be sure you have a big enough plant pot so it won't tip over. Second, my globe really saturates the bottom of the pot and the soil is almost mud. I don't want to over-water my plants. However, the globe does look pretty in the pot so I will probably just keep it as an ornament and continue watering it by hand. More...

  • Dont Buy-Dangerous

These globes are the most dangerous items especially if you have children. My 8 year old son was trying to be helpful (without my knowledge) and decided to fill the Aqua Globe with water. Unfortunately, the small, narrow tube was filled with dirt. He tried to clear the dirt and the stem broke and went straight through his left hand. 8 stitches later, I am on a mission to warn anyone I can about this product. Since our experience this week, I have heard numerous stories of the globes injuring others or just breaking when trying to clear the stem. There is no warning label what so ever... More...

  • Refund scam

Watch out and watch your mail. Ordered Aqua Globes and a few weeks later got what looked like a refund check for $8.25. Not that out of the ordnary in days of rebates but this was a scam. In the fine print on the check it said that if I cashed the check I would be allowing them to debit my credit card for $149.99 for something called "Great Fun" a discount service that I would never use. The whole way of marketing is a scam in my book. More...

  • Got 3 from Dad-in-laq

Went "up north" with the family to visit in-laws. Just as we were getting ready to leave, my father-in-law tries to pass off four Aqua Globes on me. He says that he "couldn't get them to do anything." I only took three, as we were riding the bus and I could only fit 3 in my carry-on bag. Well, I've just gotten home and plugged them into the houseplants. I'm really hoping that the globe will rescue my fern, which was a fairly expensive plant, at least on my budget, but which has been turning brown and drying out. We've tried everything with the... • What a great product

I love my aqua globes. In fact, I am looking for a good deal to buy one for every one of my plants. I had one plant that was dying on me because I couldn't manage to keep it watered enough. Since the aqua globe, it has fully recovered and looks great. You have to water your plant before putting in the aqua globe. The directions say to poke a hole (I use a wooden dowel for this) and then insert the aqua globe in -- this helps prevent breaking the neck and clogging it with dirt. Some dirt always gets in, but doesn't seem to stop the water. Some plants take more water than others,... More...

  • Filling Globes

I hated the globes because they were hard to fill with water and the tip got clogged with dirt. I love them now after I invented a way to both unclog them and fill them at the same time in under 10 seconds. I'll order more globes. I just got notice today from the US Patent Office that my application has been approved. The filler tool would cost a customer about $3.00 but I'm not sure how to market them--direct to Aqua Globe or direct to customers. I would send one free to the first 3 takers just to get pro/con feedback on them. My email address is if you are... More...

  • Killed my plant!

I bought a little orange tree for my Mom last mother's day. We've had it for almost a year and it was healthy and doing just fine. My Mom decided to buy aqua globes so she didn't have to worry about watering it. About a week after using aqua globes, I noticed the oranges started shrivelling up and the leaves were drying out. I didn't think much of it, but now the plant is completely bare. No leaves, no oranges. It's dead. Thanks Aqua Globe! More...

  • Dig the Aqua Globe!

Hi everyone, My mom bought 10 of these impulsively one late night because the entire back of her house is windows, and she loves plants but can't keep them watered. They worked great, I think she did have one tip break off, since then she bought them for everyone for Christmas, and I love mine (I put a little bit of miracle grow in them before i fill them up), the only problem I've had is with my aloe plant, it's being watered too much. A great product otherwise, for the reasonable price I would say it's definitly worth a shot! More...

  • Tip too small

I bought 3 boxes of doubles for a total of 6 globes. The only one that is okay to use is one color from each box. The other color from each box has a tip too small to fill with water. I used a pencil and still got dirt clogged in them. I do not like them at all. I cleaned the two I tried and put them back in the box and will sell them all on internet. I was so excited to get them. I can't wait to get rid of them. If the tips were all bigger - they would work better. More...

  • So Far So Good

at first when i inserted the aqua globe into my orchid, the water ran right through and flooded the plant, and ran all over the floor. then i read the instructions. water the plant first, which that did for me, then take a tool smaller in diameter than the aqua globe (pencil, screwdriver) and make a hole in the soil, then insert the aqua globe into that hole. i have mine straight up, not on an angle. and now that my orchid is watered, and i made the hole, no water has come out again. i think that it will when it is needed. I have 10 Aqua Globes and as far as I am concerned they are the "BEST" plant product on the market! I have 11 plants in my work at home office, 1 of which sits directly on my desk. I have never once spilled water on my desk or papers using the Aqua Globes. My plants are watered perfectly, and I never have to worry about over/under watering. I understand Aqua Globes may be coming out with a saller version of this product for littler plants. Fantastic idea. They are decorative, easy to use, easy to monitor I would recommend them to anyone who loves having plants. I am getting my... More...

Absolutely love them... I've got an African Violet that blooms 3 times a year now... fill them, put them in the plant and forget it... Totally worth it. Your plants will thrive.

mitek2012 says: (6 years ago)
I love them!!! there suppose to clog a little at the tip. See how the products works is that they dont water your plants, they do it-when you forget to water your plant. So as the dirt becomes dry and brittle the aqua bulb releases water to the roots, until you remember to water your plants. Look we all have busy lives and this gadget is used as a back up. So one day ou won't come home and your poor little plant parched and dehydrated. For those who are loosing water too fast, do you have it at a angle? Is the bulb deep enough? Just play with it, I swear they WORK!!!

kelo says: (7 years ago)
My aqua globe exploded shooting shards everywhere.

plantobboly says: (7 years ago)
I have had my globes for a couple of years now, only used indoors, and I have finally been able to keep plants alive! I am thrilled and would recommend them. I am not sure why people say the drain out too fast. Perhaps their is a crack in their ones? I have never had that happen and I own 6. Yes the ends do plug up, but unplug with a kitchen fork easy enough. It does waters the plant through the plug though. Thrilled!

Mamie4 says: (8 years ago)
I received six Aqua globes for Christmas. I used a wooden spoon and made a hole 3/4 the way down into the dirt. This keeps the end from getting clogged. Also if you go to deep into the soil the globe gets air from the opening in the bottom of the pot and it will empty the globe really fast. Once you figure out at what dept to place the globe they really do nicely. My plants had lost all their leaves from not having enough water or sunlight. With the globes I am now starting to see new growth and leaves. I love them!!!

happyplant says: (8 years ago)
I received the Aqua Globes for Christmas and love them. At first I thought they didn't work until I discovered I needed to first water my plant. That keeps all the water from running out at once! I made a hole with a wooden spoon and then inserted the Aqua Globe. I have no problem with clogging and my plants look so much healthier.

bonz says: (8 years ago)
I love my aqua globes...I'm going to get the minis for my orchids since the orginial ones are a bit to large for them////Following the directions makes a big difference. As for creating a hole I used the handle of a woooden spoon and for the most part have not had a problem with the globe clogging. Also it depends on how much water the plant needs as to how long the water lasts. If you put the globe all the way to the bottom of the plant the water is going to flow out much faster. common sense!!!!!!! rare today, I am beginning to think.

marywoz says: (8 years ago)
These do not work. Two brand new plants are now dead as a result of using them. The tips constantly plugged no matter what I did. When I would then unplug and refill the globe, it would then overwater the plant. I am now out at least $50.00 - $20.00 for the globes and $30.00 for the plants.

elizabeth1937 says: (8 years ago)
i only wanted one set iwant to cancel my order

ronap says: (8 years ago)
I think they work great,I have 8 in outside hanging baskets.I have two in each, I water the plant first then take a long screwdriver and poke a hole and insert the globe, a small amount of dirt in the tip does hurt. I use the globes when I am away and they work good for about 5 days.

aquaglobelover says: (8 years ago)
I love my aqua globes. I started out with two now I have them all over the house in every plant. They also add a little color around the house I just wish I could pick the colors because they usually come im multi packs. If you have trouble getting it into the plant for the first time I water the plant let it sit for awhile then take the end of a wooden spoon and drill a hole until I reach the bottom. Love, Love, Love this product.

peggy1972 says: (9 years ago)
Ok, so after looking at the reviews I'm getting you need to follow directions, as for the special individual who used a colorful way to describe folks who buy things on tv, back at ya babe, you're a moron. My husband bought these globes for me and I never even got the cahnce to try them because it was packed so tight taht when I went to unpack it the foam came apart and dropped both my globes - just my luck I guess. I'll just go to home depot and buy more to ty it. I'd just like to say people as with any purchase, its fine to want a product to perform as advertised however on the box it clearly states for UP TO 2 weeks, it never guarantees 2 weeks, AS for the smaller hole on the second hole, has it ever dawned on anyone, anyone at all that the globe is for plants that do not require as much water such as cacti or i don't know aloe. Now I'm all about a consumer getting what they pay for, however I am also a firm believer of READ THE DIRECTIONS and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY as far as you still need to give your plants attention. I DO NOT WORK FOR THE COMPANY. However I do work in the Customr Service field and let me tell you unless you have a robot or slave, companies were not created to provide you convenience AND wipe your butt if you get my drift

Dannie says: (9 years ago)
I love my aqua globes. At first I didn't think the water was going into the soil, but it was just enough for my plants. I wish makers of Aqua Globes would create a smaller globe for smaller potted plants.

dreamchaser728 says: (9 years ago)
To the woman with the toxic mold... If you weren't smart enough to clean the wetness up when it first got on the floor and didn't get the house cleaned before it went that far, maybe your fate was sealed for you.

MaryEllen says: (9 years ago)
Really folks! If you can't get them into the dirt, your plant is most likely root bound and needs to be repotted first. Think! if the tip does not rest in dirt of COURSE the water is going to leak out. In order for the dyamics to work it must be in dirt so it is absorbed slowly by the plant. The top of the soil will be dry as the water is at the base/tip of the stem. I usually spray the top of the dirt when I spray my plants just to make me feel better. I have a bunch of these and once I got use to them I was a happy camper. Plants absorb water at different rates, these keep me from over or under watering. A little dirt is the stem is a small price. BIG plants use a lot more water so a small globe may not last 2 weeks! Please folk-take a deep breath and think before you HATE something. Hate will make you ill ;-)

ihatetheglobe says: (9 years ago)
I hated this product, when i put it into my pot it dumped out all the water into the plant at once. The commercial I saw said it would dump little by little. I am very saddened by this false advertised product. I was very excited to get it but it was no worth the money i payed for it.

what do you do when the mfg. says let plant dry out ?

richnewton says: (9 years ago)
Aqua Globes are amazing. I had a lot of trouble with keeping my plant watered. I would over or under water it and the poor abused plant never looked healthy.

I now have aqua globes in both of my plants and they are happy and thriving. Thank you Aqua Globes for making me a better gardener and a better human being.

And today I saw smoke on one of my pots, and I got closer and the aqua globe was making a whole on my pot, the sun hits the globe and made fire. Be very carefull, I don't think they should be used outdoors. Very upset that my very expensive plants are burned now!!!!

I bought them from HSN, one set. Fairly smooth process, and no additional sales pitch- started online but had a slight glitch so I called HSN, associate was knowledgeable and helpful.
They do get plugged with dirt sometimes, though. But for the most part, pretty and functional.

vicdwana says: (10 years ago)
I had this conversation on another site. I am always reluctant when it come to making infomercials purchases online or over the phone. Most of the time they are trying to scam you, upgrade, or have you purchase more than you need.
You can get a set of two at Walmart for $9.99 or a set of two at BJ's for $8.99. I own three sets and plan to get more. My only complaint is the lack of ease filling it. You should have the water to a drip or very low stream because the opening is very small.
They serve their purpose!!!

leane says: (10 years ago)
hello, i think the idea of this product is very good and could really help me and my family out. I am just so busy lately, so i was wondering if anybody would recomend this item. I was also wondering if this item saves time or if it takes longer? I also need to know if it takes long to set up or not. My husband can maybe find time to hook it up. I would hooe it doesnt take long because of our busy schedule including taking our 5 children to school and ballet and dance. My son loves sports. Thanks
